Shared Housing Ordinance "Prohibited Building List" Affidavit Now Available

The Chicago City Council passed the shared housing ordinance on June 22 and the full ordinance goes in to effect 150 days after passage, or mid-November.  But the section of the ordinance that authorized creation of the Prohibited Buildings List (PBL) was effective July 15.  The PBL was added at the request of CAA and allows the owners of buildings containing five or more dwelling units to notify the commissioner of the Department of Business Affairs and Consumer Protection (BACP) that no vacation rentals or shared housing units are permitted to operate anywhere in such building.

See the letter from BACP Commissioner Maria Guerra Lapacek describing the PBL process and the affidavit, which must be submitted to get your building on the list.
