Jessica Ryan joined Kovitz Shifrin Nesbit in 2001 and became a principal of the firm in 2011.  As head of the Landlord/Tenant Department, she has extensive experience in assisting landlords and property managers with rental property issues, including: evictions, building code violations, construction defect litigation, third party, tenant, and vendor disputes, and lease or contract review to confirm compliance with state statutes and local ordinances.  She has a wide-range of experience in landlord/tenant litigation and is well-versed in the Chicago Residential Landlord Tenant Ordinance (RLTO).

David Barhydt is the founder and owner of the Law Offices of David K. Barhydt and has been representing clients in the apartment industry since 1989. His boutique law practice focuses exclusively on residential  landlord-tenant law, and his firm represents tens of thousands of professionally managed multi-family units in the Chicagoland area, including suburban Cook County, and the collar counties. David serves on the CAA’s Legislative Committee and has been closely involved with the many federal, state and local legislative developments over the past year related to the impact of Covid-19 on the apartment industry. David also serves as counsel to the NAA for it’s Click N Lease product in Illinois. He is a frequent presenter on the topic of residential landlord tenant law.
