Webinar: New Fee Disclosure Requirements for Illinois Landlords

On Wednesday, October 7th at 10am CAA will host a free members-only webinar, presented by Attorney Jessica Ryan of Kovitz Shifrin Nesbit, for a deep dive into the new fee disclosure requirements for Illinois landlords going into effect after the first of the year. This webinar will provide landlords with necessary information to be compliant with new state requirements.

Beginning January 1st, 2027, housing providers in Illinois will need to comply with a new rental fee transparency law (Public Act 104-0479). This law bans eleven different fees, including limiting application fees to $50, unless certain conditions are met. It also requires all non-optional fees to be explicitly contained on the first page of a lease agreement and in the residential listing, and identify if utilities are included in the rent.

The Illinois Click N Lease is being updated to ensure compliance with both laws prior to their effective dates.
