SOUTHEAST SIDE EXPERIENCE INCUBATOR (SSEI)

The mission of the Southeast Side Experience Incubator (SSEI) is to employ St. Francis de Sales High School students in jobs and provide the resources to help students gain valuable skills and experience in a professional work environment.   Students gain employable skills plus the confidence that they can succeed. The work experiences provide insights to career paths that can impact student’s college decisions.   Ultimately, the SSEI program is a vehicle for students to achieve higher social mobility. 

SFDS high school is located on the Southeast Side of Chicago.  Geographic boundaries for job partners include NW Indiana,  SW to Frankfort and North side of the Chicago Loop and as far west as Cicero avenue.   SSEI transports student workers to/from their job locations every day (Monday thru Friday) with up to a 1 hour 15 minute commute.

URBAN ALLIANCE (UA)

Academic-Year Job Partners The Urban Alliance (UA) program is a new model for finding and training diverse talent for careers in property management and other fields.  UA provides Chicago Public School (CPS) student with seven weeks of professional skills and literacy training, followed by training (in leasing or maintenance for those in the Property Management Pathway) and then facilitate a turnkey internship experience for company partners.  

Program Timeframe:  Interested partners should confirm participation by mid-July 2023. Interns will start part-time work in early 2024 and then work full time (32 hours a week) after graduating to July 2024.

Academic Year Program Overview

Summer Job Partners Urban Alliance (UA) is seeking companies from all fields (property management, business, and more) to commit to hosting Chicago Public School (CPS) interns across Chicago from June - August. UA connects young people to equitable, inclusive career pathways through paid work experiences, mentorship, and professional development. Their partners have helped change the life trajectories of thousands of young people while generating benefits for their businesses. UA's Summer Internship Program provides young adults with valuable professional exposure and work experience as they pursue their career goals. Employer partners make an investment to Urban Alliance, which funds the program, intern pay, and post program support for the interns and the employer partner. Interns earn competitive wages and raises, which are paid by Urban Alliance.
