CAA’s Legislative Mission is to provide a strong united voice advocating on behalf of our members rights under local, state and federal law.  Our Legislative Committee, Board and Members determine and direct our publicly stated position on important issues.

HOW: CAA advocates exclusively for the rental-housing industry
• Members determine our position and put voice to the message
• Two full time lobbyists in Springfield and Chicago deliver that message daily
• Coalition Building to maximize our impact on important issues
• A coordinated legislative/PR message to the press
• CAA Staff monitoring of legislative trends both positive and negative
• CAAPAC supports legislators who consistently support CAA interests

WHAT: CAA: What happens is as important as what doesn’t
• CAA worked to reduce the security deposit interest rate saving CAA members over 3 million dollars annually
• Worked with IAR to license leasing agents instead of requiring them to have a sales license
• Passed legislation in Springfield to expedite evictions in Cook County
